The 14-year-old gray with whom the Carinthian rider had won the runner-up title in the young dressage horses in 2014 scored 71.5 percent.

“Schimmo (note: the stable name of Del Magico) was not a bit tired, he was crisp and fresh to ride, comfortable in the arena. And he was also a bit funny, as he showed with his buck at the award ceremony,” laughs Stephanie Dearing, who will accompany her partner Christian Schumach to the World Championships in Herning at the beginning of August before the National Championships in September.

The day before in the Prix St. Georges there was no getting past Dorothee Schneider (GER) and the Haim Swarovski horse Dante’s Hit OLD. The 8-year-old Oldenburg gelding was also on his way to a score beyond 75 percent in his first Inter test before losing concentration. Schneider waived the score in the end and was seen off from the Alpenstadion to great applause for her fair behavior toward her sporting partner.

Second place went to Swiss Charlotte Lenherr with Loewenstern (69.912), third was German Annika Berenike Dörr with Salitos (69.029). The Austrians Anna Kleindient-Jilly (6th), Kathrin Brugger (7th), Lea-Elisabeth Pointinger (9th) and Katharina Haas (10th) can be pleased with their great top 10 placements.
